May 7, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Web hosting provider IntelWeb.biz is taking a shot at the low cost web site market. Following the trend behind Yahoo's free SMB hosting and Google's free blog hosting, IntelWeb is offering hosting packages from $3 per year to $25.
3 dollars buys you 10 MB of disk space and 150 MB of monthly transfer while the largest package they advertise is for 200 MB of space and 3.5 GB of transfer.
It seems this trend among web hosts is aimed at emerging businesses or more established businesses with no or low web presence in order to gain as large a market share as possible and then expand with their customers as their sites grow.
It's hard to imagine a fully-fledged commercial web site staying under 200 MB of disk space let alone 10.
The prices are great for small time entrepeneurs now but it will be interesting to see what the market looks like down the road when things have consolidated.
