Web Hosting Provider IPOWER Offers Domain Name Privacy

December 6, 2005
December 6, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider IPOWER has announced it is offering domain name privacy on all domain name purchases - saving customers $8 to $15 per year on what are purportedly the world’s lowest domain prices. The offer will be made to all new IPOWER customers and the company’s existing customer base.

When a domain name is purchased the contact details of the person/organization registering the name are entered into a database that is readily available to the general public though the Internet. WHOIS Privacy keeps such information hidden. Requests to view the information are sent directly to domain name owners who can choose whether to release the information or not.

“This is an important step forward for Internet privacy,” says Thomas Gorny, CEO of IPOWER. “Many people are concerned about having such private information ‘out there’ for anyone to access. We know that this is a feature that our customers would value and we didn’t want to keep it off limits to anyone because of price.”

IPOWER's move comes immediately after the company reduced the price of domains to a mere $2.95 per name.
