July 25, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web hosting provider The Planet has appointed Mr. Jeff Nelson and Mr. Todd Mitchell as new general managers, it was announced yesterday. Mr. Nelson is in charge of advanced services business, while Todd Mitchell leads the companys core hosting marketing. Both report to Mr. Steve Kahan, the companys Vice President of Marketing and Product Management.
The appointment of Mr. Nelson and Mr. Mitchell completes a marketing team that will spearhead The Planets three pillars of its business - the companys new Microsoft Business Team, Advanced Services and Core Hosting. Through these three businesses, we will build products and services that support the entire range of customers who rely on The Planet for running their IT infrastructures, explained Mr. Kahan. Whether its a customer looking for additional managed services; resellers who want to extend their business with core product offerings; or integrators looking to expand their Microsoft solutions, The Planet will span the entire spectrum. This strong trio of managers will help drive all aspects of the business to ensure customer success and drive revenue attainment. They bring deep experience in their respective domains and add significant expertise to the marketing team.
Mr. Nelson spent around five years at Rackspace before joining The Planet, and his responsibilities will include managing The Planets extension into managed services. He has also worked in security and network engineering roles with Enron Broadband Services and @Home Networks. He is certified as a New Product Development Professional through the Product Development and Management Association. Mr. Nelson has an M.S. in Technology Management from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a B.A. in literature from the University of Oregon.
Mr. Mitchell joins The Planet from shared hosting reseller Site5 where he was President and Chief Operating Officer. He will be in charge of developing products, solutions and services for The Planets resellers. He also held roles at ProNIC Solutions and NDi Media. He attended St. Lawrence College and John Abbott College in Canada.
