January 4, 2006 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Needs must as they say, and when 21-year-old UK student and entrepreneur Alex Tew was looking for ways of funding his higher education, he came up with the Million Dollar Homepage (http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com). The idea involved starting up a website and selling a million pixels on a single screen at a dollar a pixel. Four months down the line, and a media-frenzy later, Mr. Tews idea has made him a millionaire and his site is so popular that his last remaining pixels are being auctioned on eBay!
Of course, none of Mr. Tews success would have been possible without the services of a web hosting provider, and Sitelutions (http://www.sitelutions.com), a subsidiary of InfoRelay Online Systems, Inc., was chosen for the job. Obviously Mr. Tew was happy with the results. He recorded in his January 1, 2006 blog entry:
Finally I would like to say a huge thank you to Sitelutions who are probably the best web hosting company ever. They have given me an unbelievable level of support and ensured that the site has stayed online despite the millions of visitors. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for serious, reliable, cost-effective web hosting, whether you're a small start-up or a huge multinational corporation.
At its peak Mr. Tews site received 16 million hits per day with 500,000 unique visitors per day. It also utilized up to 200 megabits per second of Internet bandwidth. InfoRelay Online Systems, Inc., Paul Singh, Assistant Director of Operations, said of the initiative, We are honored that Alex selected us to host his site. With so much worldwide coverage, Alex needed a host that could support the sites intense bandwidth requirements.
