Activist Investor Carl Icahn Invests in Cloud Infrastructure and Digital Workspace Technology Provider VMware
Activist investor Carl Icahn has made a significant investment in cloud infrastructure and digital workspace technology provider VMware. VMware, which has headquarters in Palo Alto, California, United States, was established in 1998. A Dell Technologies company, its products and services modernize data centers and enhance public clouds. The size of Carl Icahn’s investment has not been released, reportedly because it is below the 5% threshold that requires public disclosure.

Carl Icahn is a graduate of Princeton and New York Universities and recognized globally as both an investor and philanthropist. The head of Icahn Enterprises, Forbes magazine estimated his value at $16.6 billion in February of last year. He was recently in the news for briefly holding a position advising US President Donald Trump on regulatory reform.

It is not known if he has any plans for VMWare or its majority owner Dell. However, Mr. Icahn is known to have an interest in Dell. In 2013 he tried stop Dell being made private. Dell Technologies still has 80% of the virtualization-software company. Earlier today a report by Reuters news agency suggested, “VMware declined to comment on the report. Carl Icahn or his representatives were not immediately available to comment outside of regular U.S. business hours”.
