Amy Shapero has joined cloud-based, multi-channel commerce platform provider
Shopify. Shopify, which has headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, caters to small and medium-sized businesses which use the company’s software to “design, set up, and manage” stores that support multiple sales channels including “web, mobile, social media, marketplaces, brick-and-mortar locations, and pop-up shops”. It currently offers services to a customer base of around 500,000 businesses globally. Ms. Shapero joins Shopify as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Ms. Shapero’s last position was with online wealth-management service ‘Betterment’ which she joined in 2016 as CFO. In her career she also held the CFO position at SaaS marketing technology provider Sailthru. Other positions have included Senior Vice President of Strategy, Corporate Development and Corporate Communications at ‘Big Data’ company DigitalGlobe. She also held executive positions at financial services company ‘Spot Holdings’ and New York-based financial services provider Standard & Poor's. She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Her new position is effective April 2, 2018 and she takes over from Mr. Russ Jones.
