Australia’s Largest Web and Application Hosting Company Experiences Major Difficulties

June 23, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – This week iTnews (http://www.itnews.com.au/) reported that WebCentral (http://www.webcentral.com.au/), Australia’s “largest web and application hosting company” experienced “major difficulties” that led to the companies email network failing. iTnews quoted Monique Roberts, WebCentral’s Corporate Communications Manager as saying, “the crash was caused by an unusually high load of data weighing down the mail system, which was further exacerbated by a server failure.”

WebCentral’s customers had only intermittent access to email since last Sunday night. “We’ve had some performance issues with our mail platform this week, and customers have received delays and intermittent issues. Since Sunday all our resources have been applied to resolving the issue, which is our number one concern at this time,” Roberts told iTnews. The issue was eventually resolved by the company’s in-house technical service team.

According to the iTnews report, WebCentral Customer Call Centre found it difficult to cope with the number of enquiries they received during the difficulties. “Our call centre has taken a very large number of calls,” Ms. Roberts was quoted as saying.
