Telstra has acquired UK cloud integration specialist Company85. Telstra, which has headquarters in Melbourne, Australia, owns and operates telecommunications networks across Australia. The company touches on a range of activities including internet access, voice, pay television and a number of entertainment products and services. Its acquisition of Company85 is intended to extend its presence in the UK.
With headquarters in Watford, United Kingdom, Company85 specializes in data center, cloud and network services. The company’s broad range of capabilities will prove of benefit for Telstra. Established in 2010, it is an independent IT consultancy with a keen focus on cloud integration, data management, and cloud security and privacy. Financial aspects of the deal were not released.
As Christopher Smith, Telstra’s Executive Director of Business Technology Services suggested, after the acquisition Telstra “will be able to engage in IT transformation conversations with prospective customers early in the proposal stage, which we believe will help to strengthen our position and create demand for our network services in the region.”
