Bandwidth Infrastructure Services Provider Zayo Group Acquires Dark Fiber Operator FiberLink
Bandwidth infrastructure services provider Zayo Group has acquired dark fiber operator FiberLink. The company, which is based in Boulder, Colorado, provides bandwidth infrastructure services alongside colocation services. Purchasing FiberLink will allow Zayo Group to offer a range of "end-to-end solutions" to its customers. It "drew funds" from a $250 million revolving credit facility to finance the purchase.

Zayo Group caters to a range of customers including wireline and wireless carriers, data centers, Internet content and services providers and government agencies. The purchase of FiberLink comes on the heels of its acquisitions of USCarrier, FiberGate and AboveNet. The company's activities also span the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

FiberLink manages a network reaching in excess of 1,200 route miles from Chicago to Des Moines, and from Omaha to downtown Denver. The purchase means Zayo Group now offers around 26,000 route miles of dark fiber.

FiberLink’s business model will allow Zayo to quickly integrate its activity and immediately provide customer solutions through FiberLink’s network.

“FiberLink’s assets strengthen our ability to provide a broad range of end-to-end solutions to our customers,” says Matt Erickson, president of Zayo’s fiber, transport and infrastructure division. “Des Moines is a growing data center market that will now have greater access to Zayo’s network footprint.”
