June 12, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – BDP International, a leading global logistics and transportation management organization, has selected SunGard Availability Services to provide AdvancedHosting managed services to help ensure worldwide, uninterrupted access to its corporate information systems. SunGard will host BDP’s Global Data Center – the organization’s primary suite of IT infrastructure hardware and software applications – in its new managed services facility in Philadelphia.
“With freight logistics centers in more than 20 cities throughout North America and a global network of subsidiaries, joint ventures and strategic partnerships in more than 120 countries, it is paramount that our IT systems are always up and running, keeping BDP clients and BDP people throughout the world connected at all times,” said Richard J. Bolte, Jr., president and chief executive officer at BDP International. “We trust SunGard to provide us a world-class facility, helping save us significant time and resources while allowing us to focus on our core business. SunGard’s managed services facility also supports several best practices in energy efficiency to help advance BDP’s environmental sustainability strategies.”
BDP International will deploy SunGard’s hosting services, which combine a redundant backbone network with highly secure, always available hosting facilities and equipment – configured and managed to BDP’s unique business requirements. In addition, BDP leverages capabilities from SunGard’s recovery services and consulting services portfolios.
“SunGard’s AdvancedHosting services will help BDP International achieve lower data center costs while improving system and application uptime,” said Dave Colesante, senior vice president and general manager, managed services, at SunGard Availability Services. “Our customers rely on us for a full range of managed IT services that can be tailored to meet their individual requirements. Our entire offering is backed by SunGard’s 30 years of experience in helping customers improve IT availability to support business operations.”
SunGard’s managed IT services allow customers to run business systems and applications at a SunGard facility rather than build and support their own data centers. In North America, SunGard has more than 30 managed services facilities, thousands of managed services customers and a hardened, highly available IT infrastructure engineered for reliability, resiliency and security.
