Bermuda has become a private cloud hosting hub for IT services organization

Established over 10 years ago, the company, which provides services to Caribbean and North American customers, offers a range of options including managed services, cloud computing, disaster recovery, data backup and virtualization solutions. Its customer base includes banks and financial institutions, as well as multinational companies.
The company's focus on Bermuda comes as a result of increased interest in "offshore private hosting". “After a few years of decline in the Bermuda technology sector, we are seeing encouraging signs of a resurgence in Bermuda as the preferred location for hosting of data and applications,” explained Ignition group's CEO, Graham Pearson. “With Bermuda as the hub and up to 3 other locations for replication, we tick the boxes that the international financial services and insurance organizations need in order to comply with their business continuity demands,” added Ignition's CTO, Rich James.
Ignition, which also has a presence in the Cayman Islands with offices in Curacao, Jamaica, and Trinidad, recently made an investment in additional storage capacity and WAN acceleration technology. This allows the company to "significantly increase" platform performance and reduce costs. The company suggests this will help revive interest in using Bermuda as a primary virtual computing services location.
Ignition's cloud computing environment leverages VMware virtualization technology meaning customers are relieved of costs on additional hardware when using their services. Its services are also underpinned by ongoing customer and technical support.
