In November 2009, when the news surrounding Tiger Woods’ personal life was broken by Melchior, the resulting global traffic surge threatened to cripple the popular sports site. Instead, ServInt’s engineering team quickly implemented a custom solution that quadrupled the server resources dedicated to the site. Consequently, the site not only survived the massive traffic spike, but actually performed better than ever before.
This emergency deployment spanned several product lines, including ServInt’s new Solo Series Dedicated Servers and an auxiliary cluster of high-density SuperVPS server environments. The deployment was more than enough to accommodate the immense growth in site traffic -- from four million to 18 million visitors -- that took place in the wake of the Tiger Woods story.
