British Cloud Provider UKCloud Launches UKCloudX
British cloud provider UKCloud Ltd. (UKCloud) has announced the launch of UKCloudX. UKCloud has headquarters in Farnborough, Hampshire, United Kingdom. The company is a G-Cloud member and serves the UK’s public sector with services that include Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions. The launch of UKCloudX offers a “high assurance cloud to allow secure collaboration across siloes to support rapid innovation”.

UKCloudX operates as a separate division within UKCloud. The company believes UKCloudX will offer a “new level of innovation and collaboration for the UK’s most sensitive systems”. It has made a £25 million ($33.16) investment in UKCloudX which has included acquiring additional premises and staff. UKCloudX features a new technology platform with higher grade assurance designed to “create a trusted and neutral platform for better collaboration and faster innovation”.

“Capitalizing on the same cloud-first approach that has been so successful in accelerating digital transformation and reducing cost across central government, UKCloudX will bring the benefits of cloud computing to bear for secure communications,” explained the CEO of UKCloud, Simon Hansford. “By harnessing the potential of the cloud to overcome the long lead times, inflexibility and considerable fixed costs that have traditionally hampered secure communications, UKCloudX will enable far greater innovation and collaboration on sensitive projects.”
