Cloud and CRM Specialist Salesforce Achieves Net Zero Carbon Emissions
Cloud and online Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services specialist Salesforce has achieved net zero carbon emissions for its entire company. Salesforce, which has headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States, was established in 1999. The company was one of the first Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers and has more recently moved into enterprise cloud computing. It achieved its goal of net zero carbon emissions well ahead of a projected deadline.

Net zero carbon emissions means that Salesforce’s greenhouse gas emissions have either been eliminated or successfully offset. To achieve the goal the company engaged the services of a third party company that reviewed its emissions. Salesforce also invested in carbon credit projects in Honduras and India, and bought energy from US wind farms in Texas and West Virginia. The company has beaten its net zero carbon emissions deadline by around 30 years.

“We feel an urgency and a need to act, and we think every company has a part to play in improving the state of the world,” explained Patrick Flynn, the Sustainability Director at Salesforce. Salesforce has also announced its intention to offer carbon-neutral cloud services to customers.
