Oracle Corporation (Oracle) has acquired data science platform provider DataScience.com. Oracle has headquarters in Redwood Shores, California, United States and is a globally recognized brand. The company is involved in a number of areas including providing Platform-as-a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings including ERP, HCM, CX and database solutions. Established in 1977, the company has a global network of data centers. Financial aspects of its acquisition of DataScience.com have not been released.
DataScience.com, which has headquarters in Culver City, California, United States, was established in 2014. The company “provides an enterprise data science platform that combines the tools, libraries, and languages data scientists love with the infrastructure and workflows their organizations need”. Alongside Big Data solutions the company’s services extend to predictive analytics, data modeling, and machine learning. DataScience.com’s capabilities will be offered as part of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
“Every organisation is now exploring data science and machine learning as a key way to proactively develop competitive advantage, but the lack of comprehensive tooling and integrated machine learning capabilities can cause these projects to fall short,” explained Amit Zavery, the Executive Vice President of Oracle Cloud Platform. “With the combination of Oracle and DataScience.com, customers will be able to harness a single data science platform to more effectively leverage machine learning and big data for predictive analysis and improved business results.”
