Austin, Texas-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) company
Salesforce has acquired online security company Toopher. Established in 1999 by founder Marc Benioff, Salesforce has headquarters in San Francisco, California, USA. The company is one of the original cloud-based services and had a revenue of around $4 billion in 2014. News of its acquisition appeared on Toopher's website yesterday. Financial aspects of the deal were not released.
Toopher, which was established in 2011, developed a unique approach to online security that harnesses mobile phone technology to determine someone's location to authenticate identities and eliminate identity theft. Toopher's technology and workforce will be absorbed by Salesforce. The company had recently raised $2 million in investment from a number of venture capital companies.
"Today it is with great excitement that we can unveil our ability to super-charge our superpower—because we are being acquired by Salesforce," explained Toopher's website. "While we will no longer sell our current products, we are thrilled to join Salesforce, where we'll work on delivering the Toopher vision on a much larger scale as part of the world’s #1 Cloud Platform. We can’t imagine a better team, technology and set of values with which to align".
