Cloud communications services provider
Vonage Holdings Corporation (Vonage) has bought Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS) and collaboration solutions company Simple Signal. The cost of the deal was reported as being $25.25 million, which included $20 million in cash with the balance paid in Vonage stock. The acquisition enables Vonage to better cater to the needs of a greater number of business types and sizes.
Vonage has headquarters in Holmdel Township, New Jersey and has a presence in both Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Indian and Brazil. The company caters to both consumers and business customers with a range of services which include cloud-based VoIP phone services, mobile plans and calling cards.
SimpleSignal's "carrier-grade" Bring Your Own Broadband (BYOB) solutions are delivered across the company's own MPLS network. The company excels at offering "business-quality voice and rich communication features" that leverage new technologies to "extend MPLS-like quality to BYOB customers". It utilizes BroadSoft's BroadWorks platform and sells solutions across a nationwide network of indirect channel partners.
"The SimpleSignal acquisition represents another important step in the execution of our growth strategy for becoming the clear leader in Unified Communications as a Service," explained the Chief Executive Officer of Vonage, Alan Masarek. "SimpleSignal is a natural complement to Vonage's rapidly expanding UCaaS business. Its strong channel and strategic partnerships, coupled with a common underlying technology platform, deepens Vonage's penetration in UCaaS".
