Cloud Giant ‘Big Blue’ and Enterprise Cloud Company ServiceNow Form Partnership
Cloud giant IBM (traditionally known as ‘Big Blue’) and enterprise cloud company ServiceNow have formed a partnership. IBM has global headquarters in Armonk, New York, United States and is traditionally known as a software and hardware provider. Over recent years the company has shifted to the cloud, particularly with the 2012 acquisition of cloud company Softlayer for $2 Billion. The company’s services now include ‘Watson’ - an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ‘Big Data’ solution. Its partnership with ServiceNow is intended to “accelerate the adoption of intelligent automation on a single cloud platform for IT, HR, customer service, and security”.

ServiceNow, which has headquarters in Santa Clara, California, United States, bills itself as “changing the way people work”. The company specializes in custom enterprise cloud app development and its solutions help companies work more efficiently by addressing the “activities, tasks and processes that make up day-to-day work life”. It automates its customers’ work flow by “removing dependencies on email and spreadsheets”.

IBM and ServiceNow have signed a “multi-year, strategic partnership” and together the two companies will leverage ServiceNow’s cloud-based service automation platform and IBM products and services to offer companies intelligent workflows that enable them to work faster. IBM will leverage its cognitive computing capability while ServiceNow will provide cloud-based software to deliver solutions.

“Customers seeking to build on their current investments in the ServiceNow platform or planning a future migration will now be able to draw on IBM expertise in IT strategy, enterprise-solution integration, service governance, mobility, big-data analytics and other disciplines to enrich the services they provide,” explained the General Manager of IBM Global Mobility Services, Rich Esposito. “Additionally, the partnership also opens the door for IBM to now offer a cloud-based solution to enhance users' service experience and reduce operating costs.”
