Cloud giant Alibaba Cloud (also known as ‘Aliyun’) and Open Source software pioneer
Suse have expanded their partnership. Alibaba Cloud, a branch of the Alibaba Group, is a Chinese cloud provider that offers a range of ‘Big Data’, compute, storage and Artificial Intelligence (AI) services. It is currently one of the leading providers in the cloud arena. The extended partnership will see Alibaba Cloud and Suse promote and offer each others’ services.
Suse, which has headquarters in Nürnberg, Germany, was established in 1992. The company provides “reliable, interoperable Linux and cloud infrastructure solutions that give enterprises greater control and flexibility”. It specializes in helping customers reduce the cost and complexity of clouds that support mission-critical services. Suse’s offerings include its proprietary SUSE Linux Enterprise, SUSE Cloud, SUSE Manager, and SUSE Studio solutions. The partnership see Alibaba Cloud join the ‘Suse Cloud Service Provider’ program. Likewise, Suse Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications will now available on the ‘Alibaba Cloud Marketplace’.
“Modern SAP systems running critical workloads need to meet the highest standards of availability for their SAP services running in customer data centers or on public cloud environments,” explained Suse’s Vice President of Global Alliances, Naji Almahmoud. “We are excited about our partnership with Alibaba, as it offers customers agility, pay-as-you-go capabilities and system availability.”
“This expansion of our partnership with Suse is great,” explained the Head of Global Alliances of Alibaba Cloud Global, Dajiang Han. “As one of the leading global cloud service providers, Alibaba Cloud has extensive experience in the public cloud sector. Combined with our strong global infrastructure, we aim to continue to deliver more high-quality products and services to our customers worldwide with efficiency and flexibility.”
