Alibaba Cloud has launched its second availability zone in Malaysia. Alibaba Cloud, which was established in 2009, is the cloud computing division of the Alibaba Group. Although the group’s headquarters are in Hangzhou, China, its international activity is based in Singapore. It also has a global presence, with regional headquarters in Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, San Mateo, Seoul, Africa, Sydney and Tokyo. The launch of ‘Availability Zone B’ in Malaysia extends the reach of services that include scalable cloud computing and data management platforms.
‘Availability Zone B’ complements ‘Availability Zone A’ which was launched in 2017 to cater for regional demand for Alibaba Cloud’s services. It offers a range of offerings including “payment hardware security modules (HSM), elastic computing, database, networking and monitoring services”. It is also SAP hosting-certified, meaning it can offers the German company’s range of enterprise application solutions. Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to Malaysia is underscored by its decision to set up a cloud-based Anti-DDoS Scrubbing Center in the country in August. The center will be designed to “mitigate risks and offer customers the highest level of protection against stronger DDoS attacks”.
“Alibaba Cloud is committed to bringing elastic, scalable and secure cloud products and services to our Malaysian customers,” explained Alibaba Cloud’s Malaysia General Manager, Kenny Tan. “The launch of our Availability Zone B and Anti-DDoS Scrubbing Center will enable us to offer even greater security and choice for our customers. At the same time, the launch will facilitate knowledge sharing with local enterprises and talents on how to use Alibaba Cloud technology to achieve a highly secure and resilient cloud infrastructure.”
