Cloud giant
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and management consulting, technology and outsourcing company Accenture have formed a partnership. AWS, which was established in 2006, has headquarters in Seattle, Washington, United States. Accenture was founded in 1989 and has headquarters in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The agreement between the two companies will see cooperation that will enable businesses to transition to the cloud more quickly and will allow the companies to compete in an area that HP and IBM have typically been leaders.
The agreement will allow Amazon to increase the footprint of its AWS cloud business which provides 8% of Amazon’s annual revenue. The Accenture AWS Business Group will also investigate how to create services for areas like the Internet of Things (IoT).
The partnership was announced at AWS re:Invent 2015, which recently took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Both companies will work together to establish solutions that will allow companies to move their IT operations to the cloud quickly and efficiently. The first year of activity will see around 1,000 Accenture staff receive in-depth input on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
“Accenture is already a market leader in cloud and the formation of the Accenture AWS Business Group is a key part of our Accenture Cloud First agenda,” explained Accenture’s Chief Strategy Officer, Omar Abbosh in a company statement on the Accenture website. “Cloud is increasingly becoming a starting point with our clients for their enterprise solutions. Whether our clients need to innovate faster, create new services, or maximize value from their investments, the Accenture AWS Business Group will help them get there faster, with lower risk and with solutions optimized for AWS.”
