Cloud Giant Google Acquires Video Streaming Company Anvato
Cloud giant Google has acquired video streaming company Anvato. Google, which has headquarters in Mountain View, California, United States, is a leading cloud player with more than 10% of the global cloud market. Its purchase of Anvato will significantly enhance its cloud capabilities and enable Google to better compete with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft's Azure Media Services. Financial aspects of the deal were not released.

Anvato, which is also in Mountain View, offers a platform that enables TV networks to “publish, monetize and syndicate” video content. The company claims to be able to stream and monetize video to any type of device and caters to some major players including Fox Sports and NBCUniversal. The company’s Media Content Platform (MCP) can be merged with a range of video publishing tools such as Live Streaming and Syndication.

"With OTT (over-the-top) adoption rapidly accelerating, the Cloud Platform and Anvato teams will work together to deliver cloud solutions that help businesses in the media and entertainment industry scale their video infrastructure efforts and deliver high-quality, live video and on-demand content to consumers on any device," explained Google Cloud Platform’s Senior Product Manager Belwadi Srikanth.
