Cloud giant
Google and online training specialist Coursera have partnered for the provision of cloud computing training. Google, an Alphabet Inc., has global headquarters in Mountain View, California, United States and a worldwide presence. The company is one of the industry’s leading cloud services providers, offering cloud storage and compute services alongside ‘Big Data’ solutions amongst many other options.
Coursera, which also has headquarters in Mountain View, “connects millions of learners around the world with the skills and knowledge they need to transform their lives and careers”. Established in 2012, the company currently offers more than 2,000 online courses from providers that include quality universities like Stanford and Yale. The courses it will work with Google to provide will be taught by Google’s experts.
The collaboration will see Coursera offer on-demand ‘Google Cloud Training’ courses via its platform. Part of a five-part series, the first course - “Big Data and Machine Learning”- is available from this week. The course targets data engineers aiming for Google Cloud specialization. The collaboration will ultimately give Google access a network of potential employees that are competent using Google Cloud Platform technology. Courses at a range of levels focusing on a variety of areas including analytics, infrastructure and machine learning are planned for the near future.
