Cloud Giant Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner Leaves Company
Cloud giant Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kevin Turner is to leave the company. Microsoft, which has headquarters in Redmond, Washington, United States, is traditionally a software company but has refocused over recent years and now offers cloud solutions such as Azure and Office 365. Mr. Turner was at Microsoft for 11 years and will join Citadel Securities.

Citadel Securities is an investment company with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The company is “one of the world’s largest securities dealers” and it bills itself as having “worked to transform markets around the world to make them fairer, more cost-effective and transparent”. Mr. Turner will join the company as CEO.

At Microsoft Mr. Turner was in charge of global sales and marketing. He was also in charge of managing Microsoft’s partner channels and Microsoft stores. He oversaw a 50,000-strong global workforce and played a key role in helping Microsoft transition to cloud computing. He was also a contender for the CEO position when Steve Ballmer stood down from the position. Prior to Microsoft he was CEO of the SAM’S CLUB division of Wal-Mart.

Mr. Turner’s workload at Microsoft will be shared by five executives, according to Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella. "Kevin is a world-class business builder with experience managing large and complex organizations," suggested Mr. Nadella is a blog post. "Kevin is a proven innovator who brings expertise in technology and operations with a client-first focus. I have learned a lot from Kevin over these past few years and wish him all the best," he added.
