Cloud infrastructure provider
DigitalOcean has opened a facility in Germany. The company, which bills itself as "the world’s fastest growing cloud infrastructure provider", has headquarters in New York City, USA and operates a number of data centers around the world. The company's new facility in Frankfurt am Main will help the company meet Germany’s increasing demand for IT and the internet.
DigitalOcean is experiencing significant growth. It currently provides 4 million cloud servers and is recognized as third largest hosting provider in Europe, with projections to take second position by the end of 2015. While it has 10 data centers in total globally, the new facility is the company's third European data center. Other data centers are located in Amsterdam and London.
DigitalOcean's move is a boon for German developers who are under the restrictions of regulations that require German company data to be located in Germany. “We’re here to give our full support to developers throughout the world by offering a simple, ideal cloud solution and infrastructure experience for hosting applications,” explained Ben Uretsky, the Co-Founder and CEO of DigitalOcean. “Innovative companies in Germany deserve the best tools possible in order to continue to grow and succeed.”
