Trend Micro Incorporated (Trend Micro) has acquired Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based cloud tool provider Cloud Conformity. Trend Micro, which is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and has a presence in Cork, Ireland, and Taipei, Taiwan, is a “global leader in security software and solutions”. The company has been in operation for 25 years and its services “protect individuals, families, businesses, and governments”. Its solutions are based in the cloud (the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™) and receive the support of a global team of 1,200 “threat experts”. Its services ensure compliance with industry standards like PCI, GDPR, HIPAA, and NIST. The acquisition of Cloud Conformity is intended to strengthen its global position as the leader in cloud security services.
Cloud Conformity has headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States and a presence in London, United Kingdom, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Established in 2016 the company specializes in several areas including Amazon Web Services (AWS)-related offerings, security, reliability, and performance efficiency services alongside real-time threat detection and cloud governance options. Ita SaaS-based tool offers users “unparalleled visibility, control, governance, and reporting into their public cloud Infrastructure within seconds”. Financial aspects of the deal have not been released. The acquisition “broadens the cloud services Trend Micro can secure and resolves often overlooked security issues caused by cloud infrastructure misconfiguration”.
