Cloud Storage Company Wasabi Opens New US Data Center
Cloud storage company Wasabi Technologies, Inc. (Wasabi) has opened a new data center on the West Coast of the United States. Wasabi, which has headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, was established in 2017. The company bills itself as “the hot cloud storage company” and offers “fast to write, low-cost, and reliable cloud storage” options. It prides itself on a high-speed service with a competitive price when compared to other leading providers. Wasabi’s latest data center was recently opened in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States.

Wasabi aims to “commoditize the storage industry” and the launch of its latest data center underscores the company’s ambitions. Extending its services to the West Coast of the United States offers its customers in Hollywood, Silicon Valley and in the Asia-Pacific region closer proximity access to its cloud storage services. Alongside faster speeds the launch offers customers additional connectivity options and enhanced data center redundancy. Other features of the service include automatic data replication and failover services.

“Wasabi is seeing significant demand from the media and entertainment industry where huge datasets are created with every movie or video in production, and their current storage facilities just can’t keep pace,” explained Wasabi’s CEO, David Friend. “Wasabi’s new US West Coast data center is an ideal cloud storage solution for West Coast companies as well as a preliminary way for Wasabi to serve the Asia/Pacific market as we continue to expand our global footprint.”
