Colocation, managed services, and cloud company ViaWest has opened a new data center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA - its first in the state. The data center will offer in excess of 40,000 square feet of “raised floor” and includes the latest UPS power equipment. The center also boasts an energy efficient cooling system. The PCI, SOC, SSAE and HIPAA-compliant center will offer colocation, managed and cloud services alongside hybrid options.

The new data center is located in a “low-risk natural disaster region” and offers 100-percent availability Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Its features include multiple medium voltage (12.47kV class) utility power feeds and 10 MW redundant, fault tolerant diesel power generation capacity. It also offers 2(N+1) 5.4 MW redundant and fault tolerant UPS capacity. The data center also offers “industry leading customer service and support”.

The move is intended to establish ViaWest in a new market and the expansion will be managed by Regional Vice President and GM Chris Parsons. Prior to his current role at ViaWest, Mr. Parsons was Internap Network Services’ Regional Vice President and oversaw sales and for the western United States. Before that he worked with Qwest and was involved in direct and indirect sales channels at Cable and Wireless USA over a 13-year period.
