Cybersecurity Company Palo Alto Networks Acquires Cloud Threat Defense Startup Redlock
Cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks has acquired cloud threat defense startup Redlock. Established in 2005, Palo Alto Networks has headquarters in Santa Clara, California, United States. The company’s cybersecurity offerings provide effective protection against cyber threats and malware. Its acquisition of Redlock reportedly cost $173 million and comes in the wake of its acquisition of Evident.io last year for $300 million cash payment.

Redlock provides automated threat detection solutions. With headquarters in Menlo Park, California, United States, the company was established in 2015. Its products and services work across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud environments to provide “effective cloud threat defense” and compliance and security solutions. Its proprietary RedLock Cloud 360TM compliance assurance platform “takes a new AI-driven approach” to establishing vulnerabilities and risks. RedLock has around 6,000 customers including big players like VMware. Completion of the deal is likely to take place early 2019.

Palo Alto Networks will absorb Redlock’s technology and combine it with ‘Evident’ technologies to provide advanced “cloud security analytics, advanced threat detection, continuous security, and compliance monitoring” in a single solution."We are thrilled to add RedLock’s technology to our cloud security offerings,” explained Palo Alto Networks’ CEO and Chairman, Nikesh Arora. “The addition of their technologies allows us to offer the most comprehensive security for multi-cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, and significantly strengthens our cloud strategy going forward."

"We are excited to join Palo Alto Networks to bring together the strength of our cloud analytics and their industry-leading compliance technologies to help security teams protect their organizations," added RedLock’s CEO and co-founder, Varun Badhwar.
