July 31, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Czech web hosting provider IGNUM (http://www.ignum.cz) has chosen SWsoft Virtuozzo to power its Linux and Windows virtual private server (VPS) offerings. IGNUM began VPS hosting services in mid-April and at that stage, according to the company, VPS was a new technology in the Czech market.
"SWsoft's Virtuozzo solution gave IGNUM an opportunity to bring the benefits of virtualization technology to its customers in the Czech Republic," said SWsoft’s Managing Director of European/Asian operations, Soeren von Varchmin. "Virtuozzo delivers the best of our OPEN FUSION technology initiative, which in the future will help IGNUM take advantage of emerging business opportunities such as software as a service (SaaS)."
VPS offers dedicated server flexibility using shared disk space on a single physical server with a single operating system. The server disk is partitioned using virtualization software. Each VPS is allocated its own resources rather than sharing them with all the websites on a server.
"VPS hosting is ordered by customers who need more than shared hosting and want the advantages of VPS hosting, such as custom configuration of the server and a guarantee of available resources," explained IGNUM’s Managing Director, Marek Erneker. "We believe that virtualization is the future of hosting services, so our VPS offerings are essential for us to remain a technology leader in the Czech Republic."
Alongside VPS, IGNUM offers a range of hosting options including Sharepoint Hosting, Coldfusion Hosting, and Joomla Hosting. Two-thirds of the company’s VPS customers use the Linux platform and the remainder use Windows.
