Data backup and recovery specialist Commvault and cloud giant Alibaba Cloud have formed a partnership. Commvault, which has headquarters in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, United States, was established in 1996. The company provides a range of data protection and information management solutions to companies and organizations of various sizes, giving them “access and use all of their data, anywhere and anytime”. Alongside data management the company’s services extend to cloud computing, storage, and virtualization. Together Commvault and Alibaba Cloud aim to “accelerate worldwide digital transformations”.

Also known as ‘Aliyun’, Alibaba Cloud was established in 2009. With official headquarters in Singapore, the company is the cloud division of the Alibaba Group, whose products and services include the Taobao, Tmall and Alibaba.com websites, which have hundreds of millions of users. The group is also famous for its Ali Express and Ali Baba online trading platforms. Together Commvault and Alibaba Cloud will establish “advanced, innovative and scalable hybrid cloud data management solutions that address data challenges securely and efficiently”.

Through the partnership the two companies will be involved in knowledge transfer that will allow them to develop “innovative offerings and upgrades that support rapidly evolving business requirements in today's digital landscape”. Commvault and Alibaba Cloud’s solutions will be underpinned by Alibaba Cloud’s scalable cloud computing and data processing capabilities and safely accessed via Commvault's data management platform. The solutions will also offer Alibaba Cloud’s customers access to Commvault's “best-in-class data experts from engineering and customer support teams”.

"Commvault's partnership with Alibaba Cloud continues building on our unwavering commitment to delivering cloud-optimized solutions so that our customers can leverage the power and benefits of a multi-cloud strategy for modernized data protection and disaster recovery."
