Data center and cloud computing solutions provider
Cloud Dynamics has been awarded a contract to modernize the data centers of Seneca College - one of Canada's largest educational institutions for post-secondary students.
Seneca College has a number of campuses located in the Greater Toronto Area and offers a range of degrees, diplomas and certificates. The college is noted for high academic standards coupled with a practical, hands-on learning approach. It has a strong focus on technology to ensure its graduates are ready to take on the challenges of their careers.
One of the colleges biggest operating costs is IT power, with 60% of data center power reserved for cooling. Toronto, Ontario-based Cloud Dynamics has a dedicated team (in-house architects alongside engineers and contractors) that addresses data center improvements. The team will upgrade three of Seneca College's data centers and help the college recoup costs by saving or re-purposing 80% of energy used for data center cooling.
"Forward-thinking organizations, like Seneca, recognize the importance of staying ahead of the curve," explained Cloud Dynamics Inc.'s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Mirza Kamaludeen. "Upon completion of this eight-month project, Seneca's computing environment will be optimized for increased energy efficiencies, including uptime, capacity and sustainable operations, as well as ensuring overall operating cost reductions."
