Data center, hybrid cloud and managed services provider QTS Realty Trust (QTS
) has acquired the New Jersey data center of data center services provider DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. (DuPont Fabros). QTS, which has headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas, United States, is the owner of Carpathia Hosting. Established in 2005, QTS offers a range of services which extend to colocation, cloud and web and IT application solutions. DuPont Fabros’ data center is set in a 38-acre campus located in New Jersey, United States. The center currently houses the IT infrastructure of a “major pharmaceutical company, a large media company and several financial services organizations”.
DuPont Fabros, which has headquarters in Washington, D.C., United States, specializes in “enterprise-class, carrier neutral, large multi-tenant wholesale data centers”. The company prides itself on offering facilities that provide safe, low-cost computing environments. It caters to companies in a number of industries including Internet content providers and cloud providers. Its 360,000 square foot data center has become QTS' third New Jersey data center.
QTS’ acquisition enhances its ability to cater to Fortune 1000 companies in the Northeast of the United Sates, particularly those involved in financial services, healthcare and the technology industry. The deal reportedly cost QTS $125 million.
