Data Center and Managed Services Provider QTS Chosen by Columbia College Chicago
Data center and managed services provider QTS Realty Trust (QTS) has been chosen by Columbia College Chicago to provide hybrid IT services. QTS, which has headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas, United States, was established in 2005. The company bills itself as “a leading provider of secure, compliant data center, hybrid cloud and managed services” with services that include colocation. QTS was chosen to provide a “long-term hybrid IT roadmap” for the college.

Established in 1890, Columbia College Chicago is a leading US academic institution with an international reputation for quality, particularly in areas such as arts and media education. In 2015 the college embarked on a five-year modernization project designed to upgrade its technology infrastructure. The college chose QTS based on the quality of its flexible and scalable outsourced hybrid IT data center solution. Amongst other enhancements, the company will provide a Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) option to protect the college’s mission-critical workloads. Ultimately, the college will transition to QTS’ cloud services.

"QTS' broad range of scalable and integrated IT infrastructure services will help consolidate our various IT systems, provide a long-term hybrid IT solution and lead the college into a 21st century technology environment," Columbia College Chicago’s Chief Information Officer, Byron Nash. "As our requirements grow and our needs change, QTS will provide flexibility by enabling portability of existing IT services, particularly as it relates to cloud solutions."
