Data Center Company Equinix Announces Collaboration with HPE in APAC
Data center company Equinix, Inc. (Equinix) has announced collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and the launch of Azure Stack-as-a-Service on ‘Platform Equinix’ in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Equinix was established in 1998 and has headquarters in Redwood City, California, United States. The company operates an ‘interconnection platform’ through carrier-neutral data centers and offers a broad range of services including colocation, cloud and data security options. It was in the news earlier this year for announcing a new facility in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

HPE has headquarters in Palo Alto, California, United States and is a globally recognizable brand. Formerly part of Hewlett Packard Inc. (HP), HPE specializes in providing servers, storage, networking, consulting, and offering financial services. The new APAC-based ‘pay-as-you-use’ service solution will allow companies to leverage HPE GreenLake with a Microsoft Azure Stack and utilize a reliable on-demand hybrid cloud architecture without incurring the costs traditionally related with such a move. The solution will be hosted by Equinix at its International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. With an Azure Stack running on HPE hardware, users can access Microsoft Azure through Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric (ECX Fabric) which offers “up to 100 Gbps of bandwidth with sub-millisecond latency”.

“Extending the breadth of our global partnership with HPE by introducing this on-demand hybrid cloud solution in Asia-Pacific provides Equinix’s enterprise customers with a simple means to consume an ever-expanding range of technologies as-a-Service in our data centers,” suggested Diarmid Massey, Senior Vice President, Equinix Asia-Pacific. “Our global reach and extensive business ecosystems enable HPE to offer on-demand, enterprise-grade hybrid cloud solution to nearly 10,000 world-leading companies across the globe.”

“While hybrid cloud is today’s mainstream for innovative businesses, there are still several barriers to adoption,” explained Global Vice President HPE GreenLake, Scott Ramsay. “With Equinix’s interconnection platform and incomparable cloud network, we are able to bring an enterprise-grade hybrid cloud solution to businesses of all sizes in Asia-Pacific on-demand. We look forward to rolling out the solution to more markets via Platform Equinix to accelerate hybrid cloud adoption in the region.”
