March 27, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – EvoSwitch, the Amsterdam based carrier- and CO2-neutral data center, has hired Eric Boonstra (44) as Commercial Director. In his former job Boonstra worked as Branch Director with Alfa Delta Compendium. Before that he headed Siemens Procurement and Logistics.

Eric Boonstra started his job March 1st. He will be responsible for the further international expansion of the EvoSwitch client base. His goal amongst others is to show more companies in the Corporate arena, with Top-500 companies and public organizations in it, what a high tech and green data center environment like EvoSwitch can bring them in terms of energy savings, safety and environmental responsibility.

“EvoSwitch represents a next generation of data centers which have been constructed in a very efficient, safe and above all a very energy efficient way,” says Boonstra. “The German Federal Environment Ministry has published a report with best-practices in the area of green data-center initiatives in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, a report that is based on research by the Borderstep Institute for Innovation and Sustainability. Among the eleven energy-efficient data centers worldwide described in the report is EvoSwitch. I know that Corporate organizations are in need of such facilities with good connections to house their equipment.”

The data center branche is a completely new business environment for Boonstra, although he sees important overlap with former jobs. “With Siemens I also worked in a very technical oriented culture, whereas with Alpha Delta Compendium I had the management over a business unit that endorses and advises organizations on their procurement also when it comes to procurement of ICT and facility services. I am experienced with procurement for banks, insurers, IT companies and others, with clients such as KLM, Transavia, Schiphol Group, ProRail, Essent and Rabobank. With EvoSwitch I am just on the other side of the procurement spectrum. In this case I deliver the services for companies to outsource their data center activities.”

Switching from Procurement to Sales is a deliberate choice for Boonstra. “I have lots of experience with procurement and the management of procurement, but sales and marketing and the management of those processes is were my heart goes. The last 4 years I was co-responsible for initiating the CPO-day in The Netherlands, which has become a well known yearly recurring event for procurement professionals. I like a network approach like this, where congenial people are gathered in one platform. With EvoSwitch I will try to maintain this approach and transfer it somehow to the data center experience.”

EvoSwitch (www.evoswitch.com) is a carrier-neutral, green data Center (CO2-neutral). The data center is very energy efficient and has a PUE of 1.6 with a near-term goal of 1.2. EvoSwitch is located in the Amsterdam region, has good connections and a spacious floor area of more than 9,000 m2. EvoSwitch is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified. To customers this means that their IT infrastructure within EvoSwitch is protected according to the highest standards. The data center has a total capacity of 20 Megawatt. This power capacity enables EvoSwitch to guarantee customers that there is always enough energy available. EvoSwitch operates fully climate-neutral. In cooperation with the Climate Neutral Group the data center invests in worldwide projects to restore the CO2 balance in the atmosphere (www.climateneutralgroup.com). Companies that install their equipment in the EvoSwitch data center can use the logos of the The Green Fan Partner Programme (www.thegreenfan.com) on their web sites to show that they use a climate-neutral data center.
