Data Center Infrastructure Provider Minkels Adds Drop Away Panels to Portfolio
Data center infrastructure provider Minkels has added Drop Away Panels to its portfolio. Minkels, a Legrand company, has global headquarters in Veghel, Netherlands. The company is a manufacturer and supplier of “total solutions for data center infrastructure”. It has a presence in the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and Belgium, and its products come under four divisions - cooling (VariCondition), housing (Varicon) , power distribution (VariconPower) and monitoring (VariControl). By adding Drop Away Panels to its range Minkels is addressing the global demand for increased data center security and safety.

Drop Away Panels strengthen fire safety within data centers. They are “specifically designed roof panels for data center aisle containment”. Drop Away Panels automatically soften when a data center’s temperature rises above 65 degrees. Panels drop down to allow water sprinklers or water mist systems to operate, significantly enhancing fire safety by making it possible to use corridors in combination with water fire extinguishing systems with sprinklers.

“Under the influence of the cloud, there is a growing focus on data center security solutions,” explained Minkels’ Product Manager Bas Jacobs. “Demand for data center security and safety solutions is amplified by an increased focus on security topics within the European EN 50600 data center standard.”
