June 15, 2007
June 15, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Data center operator and managed services provider Peak 10 (http://www.peak10.com) has launched electronic vaulting (e-vaulting) as a managed service, it was announced yesterday. The service enhances Peak 10’s customers’ backup and storage needs by providing secure data transfer to a second Peak 10 facility”. Peak 10 operates ten data centers in the USA at Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina, Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee, USA Louisville, Kentucky, and Richmond, Virginia.

“It used to be enough for companies to backup data at a single site. But a large and growing number of our clients now require that backed up data is stored in at least two separate locations,” explained Vice President for Managed Services at Peak 10, Mr. Monty Blight. “According to Blight, this approach is becoming a standard best practice driven by compliance with regulations like HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and Graham-Leach-Blilley. Offsite tape storage is still the right answer for some clients but E-vaulting gives clients who require a disk-based solution another option.”

Peak 10’s service includes disk-to-disk-to-tape backup solutions including full weekly backups and daily “incrementals”. Data is duplicated and backed-up in a strictly monitored backup procedure. A number of Internet service providers are utilized for the backup to ensure continuity if one ISP suffers difficulties.

Peak 10 offers a range of managed services with “localized engineering and support”. Its customers include Rivals.com, Global Knowledge, Pergo, SchoolDude.com, Churchill Downs, LendingTree and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The company was recently ranked as one of the fastest growing private companies in America by Inc. magazine.
