Data Center Provider Equinix Enhances Partnership with IBM
Data center services provider Equinix, Inc. (Equinix) has enhanced its partnership with IBM Cloud - the cloud division of ‘Big Blue’. Redwood City, California-based Equinix helps businesses address IT and cloud strategies. Founded in 1998, it is globally recognized for its global interconnection platform. The company operates carrier-neutral data centers through which it offers services that include cloud, colocation, data security, and interconnection packages. Equinix was in the news early this year for announcing a new facility to be located in Seoul, the South Korean capital. Its enhanced partnership with IBM Cloud will see both companies collaborate on a new data center offering and hybrid cloud computing initiatives.

IBM Cloud has headquarters in Armonk, New York, United States. Its parent body IBM is a global powerhouse operating in more than 170 countries. IBM Cloud’s “robust suite of advanced data and AI tools” are provided via a full-stack cloud platform. These products and services include compute, data, containers, Artificial Intelligence (IA), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, storage, and dev tools, to name a few. IBM Cloud also offers public and private clouds alongside VMware options. Its collaboration with Equinix sees the two companies offering private and scalable connectivity to enterprises around the world through the Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric (ECX Fabric).

The two companies’ have worked together for some time. IBM Cloud Direct Link Exchange is available through Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers around the world and together the companies have adopted a hybrid cloud strategy that unites public, private and on-premises options. The companies’ latest move targets enterprises with the view of accelerating their deployment of hybrid cloud solutions. Customers of the joint effort will be easily able to establish a secure private cloud connection to IBM Cloud.
