Data center servers and storage systems provider Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (
Mellanox Technologies) has announced the launch of its new ‘IDG4400 Flex Network’ platform. Mellanox Technologies, which has global headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, United States, was established in 1999. The company offers a range of interconnect solutions that enhance data center efficiency by “providing the highest throughput and lowest latency” to deliver data to applications more quickly. The company’s products include adapters, switches, software and silicon designed to “accelerate application run time and maximize business results”. Previously known as NPS-400, the IDG4400 Flex Network is the company’s latest platform.
The new ‘IDG4400 Flex Network’ platform leverages ‘Indigo’, a high-performance network processor that offers “sophisticated packet processing”. Indigo offers a range of capabilities including intrusion prevention and detection, application recognition, firewall, and DDoS prevention. Its packet processing offers rates of 500Gb/s alongside Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) at 320Gb/s over millions of flows. As a result, a single IDG4400 network processor platform “is capable of realizing the DPI processing capability of a full rack of servers”. The solution has also been combined with ‘Spectrum Ethernet Switch Systems’ to offer an L1-L7 network solution for the deployment of scalable and cost-effective security and network applications in data centers.
“Today IT managers run their security and network applications over expensive compute servers,” explained Mellanox Technologies’ Vice President of Product Marketing, Yael Shenhav. “The Indigo IDG4400 Flex platform, combined with Spectrum Ethernet switch systems, enable network professionals to effectively offload these applications, thereby reducing data center capital and operating expenses while improving overall return on investment.”
