Data Center Services Companies Equinix and GCX Announce Collaboration
Data center services companies Equinix and Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) have announced collaboration that will facilitate access to the Equinix Cloud Exchange through GCX’s Cloud X Fusion at key locations that include Ashburn, Virginia, and Los Angeles, California, USA, Frankfurt, Germany, London, United Kingdom, Tokyo, Japan, and Singapore.

An American public corporation, Equinix is a network-neutral data center and interconnection services provider. It is the largest IBX data center and colocation provider in the world. The company offers carrier-neutral data centers and internet exchanges via global "lowest latency" network routes and has a presence in the Americas, the EMEA region, and in Asia-Pacific. Its Equinix Cloud Exchange offers access to more than 400 cloud providers including IBM/Softlayer, Amazon Web Service (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and the Google Cloud Platform.

A Reliance Communications company, GCX provides managed services and data center services to customers in around 160 countries. The company manages a substantial subsea cable network (67,000 route kilometers) which underpins its integrated cloud ecosystem. It also manages a 200,000 route kilometer optic fiber backbone within the United States. Part of GCX's Cloud X offering, Cloud X Fusion is a proprietary cloud platform solution that utilizes fiber optics and offers a "pay-as-you-use" approach to cloud computing.

Cloud X Fusion allows companies to use Ethernet or MPLS VPN to connect on-premises networks and data centers (as well as any other network resources that might be used) through GCX's private network. Cloud X Fusion will provide "enterprise grade" connectivity "directly into the Equinix Cloud Platform".

“As enterprises become more adept at integrating, aggregating and orchestrating Cloud, it is mission critical to have a reliable, secure, and high-performance network connectivity to succeed in this new landscape,” explained Equinix's CEO, Steve Smith. “We are pleased to have GCX as part of our growing Equinix Cloud Ecosystem.”
