Data center solutions provider
Digital Realty has purchased a data center in Sydney, Australia. The 7,500 square-meter center, located in Sydney's Macquarie Park, was purchased at a cost of AU$11.75 million (US$12.4 million) and has an existing tenant - a "global provider of IT products and services" that has leased the property on a "long-term basis".
Macquarie Park is Sydney's main technology area and is home to a high concentration of tech companies. The purchase of the data center gives Digital Realty greater access to the Sydney market and "adds a new global, blue-chip tenant to our customer base," suggested Digital Realty's Senior Vice President and Regional Head Asia Pacific, Kris Kumar.
The company also owns a FlexSM Data Center at Sydney's Erskine Park. The "turn-key" solution features the company's proprietary POD Architecture® and offers data center space with its own dedicated electrical and mechanical infrastructure. The completion of their center in Erskine Park alongside their recent purchase underscores Digital Realty's commitment to expansion into the Asia Pacific market.
Digital Realty has 110 properties and its offerings are available in 32 markets including Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. The company's corporate headquarters are based in the United States and aside from Australia, the company has a presence in London and Singapore.
