Data Solutions Provider Pure Storage Acquires Storage Solution Provider StorReduce
Data solutions provider Pure Storage has acquired storage solution provider StorReduce. Pure Storage, which has headquarters in Mountain View, California, United States, was established in 2009. Billed as the “all-flash storage leader”, the company’s range of services includes enterprise storage, desktop virtualization, and cloud computing options. Its data solutions allow its customers - which include business and public sector customers as well as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and cloud services providers - to “deliver real-time, secure data to power their mission-critical production, DevOps, and modern analytics environments in a multi-cloud environment”. Pure Storage’s acquisition of StorReduce will enhance its technology capabilities.

StorReduce, which has headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, United States, was established in 2014. The company’s offerings enable its business customers to “move data to and better use it at scale on object storage and cloud”. Its scalable and cost-effective virtualization layer leverages “numerous unique technologies” to allow companies to use a “single cloud data lake with no data silos”. StorReduce’s deduplication solutions are designed for modern cloud object storage and reduce object storage costs while significantly increasing transfer speeds. An individual StorReduce cluster manages “10s to 100s of petabytes of data at extremely high throughputs”. Through the acquisition Pure Storage can now include StorReduce’s deduplication technology to its object storage portfolio. The financial aspects of the deal have not been released but it was announced the acquisition was completed this month.

"The StorReduce team has built an incredibly exciting technology that has the opportunity to make a major impact on next-generation storage architectures," explained the CEO of Pure Storage, Charles Giancarlo. "Together, we will help customers execute on data-centric architectures that bridge seamlessly from on-prem to cloud."
