Deutsche Telekom's T-Systems Chosen to Move Tech Data’s Europe-based IT Systems to the Cloud
T-Systems has been chosen to move Tech Data’s Europe-based IT systems to the cloud. T-Systems, which is a subsidiary of German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, has headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. The company, which was established in 2000, specializes in IT services and consulting. Financial aspects of the deal were not announced beyond the fact that it was substantial.

Tech Data Corporation (Tech Data), which was established in 1974, is recognized as one of the world's largest IT wholesale distributors. The company, which has headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, United States, specializes in IT products and services, particularly advanced logistics capabilities. The company deals with 115,000 resellers who address the technology requirements of customers in around 100 countries. It generated $27.7 billion in the 2015 fiscal year. The agreement underscores T-Systems' ability to cater for its the cloud requirements of customers like the Swiss Federal Railways.

“Cloud computing is an essential part of Tech Data’s strategy – for our own IT systems and e-business tools in order to gain flexibility and innovation power", explained Philippe Bosquier, CIO Europe at Tech Data in a press release. “T-Systems as a cloud leader in Europe helps us with dynamic services to respond immediately to market changes in our product assortment. This accelerates pricing and logistics significantly, two major criteria for our customers with which we can score as an IT wholesale distributor.”
