Digital Arm of Jamaican Newspaper ‘The Gleaner’ Provides Free Starter Packages to 50 Small Businesses
The digital arm of Jamaican newspaper ‘The Gleaner’ - Gleaner Online - has given free starter packages to 50 of Jamaica’s small businesses. The Gleaner is one of the country’s oldest newspapers and was established in 1834. While Gleaner Online primarily provides a digital presence for the newspaper, it also offers digital solutions to individuals and businesses. Its services extend to web hosting, domain name registration, website building, ecommerce services and content management.

The starter packages were awarded at the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) Business Expo which took place at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica earlier this month. The packages were presented by Terri-Karelle Reid, Gleaner Online’s Brand and Sales Manager in recognition of the fact that many smaller businesses are concerned that they do not have the capital for successful advertising. In addition, many companies lack insights regarding digital advertising.

Gleaner Online’s starter packages comprised of free domain name registration alongside a three-page responsive website. The package also included free web hosting and five email addresses. Recipients also received free advertising on The Gleaner Online's websites to boost their digital presence. A further 10 small companies received free ‘social-media packages’.
