Domain Name Provider Owner Donates $5m To HIV/AIDS Foundation

May 15, 2012 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – A $5million donation has been made by The Parsons Foundation to the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS. Founders, Renee and Bob Parsons, made the contribution to the Arizona–based Center which helps men, women and children battling HIV and AIDS.

Part of the money is set to create the Parsons Foundation Center for Health, Education and Wellness in Phoenix, with the smaller portion being used to encourage donations from others.

Bob Parsons, the founder of GoDaddy.com, now holds the position of Executive Chairman, along with being CEO of Arizona’s motorcycle dealership GoAZ Motorcycles.

"My wife Renee and I created The Parsons Foundation to help others, to make a difference with those less fortunate," he said.

The money comes two years on from their previous donation of $500,000 to the Southwest Center at their holiday party extravaganza in 2010.

Renee Parsons commented "Bob and I hope others will be inspired to help the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS,"

Arizona has many men, women and children infected with the diseases, which affect around 4million people globally. “Patients at our new center are going to get some of the best care available anywhere in the U.S,” Renee said.

More than 14 thousand men, women and children have AIDS or are HIV infected in Arizona, a disease that impacts nearly 4 million people around the world.

The Parsons Foundation Center for Health, Education and Wellness is expected to be finalized by the end of 2012 and will include a medical center, mental health counselling rooms, and support groups which will meet needs of youths and families.

Carol Poore, President and CEO, Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, said: "This full-service center is such a critical piece of our work - especially for those in our community who do not have access to integrated healthcare and educational support programs,”

“Bob and Renee's generous donation is so inspiring because it means the difference between opening soon and opening sometime next year."

At the 17th Annual Night for Life Gala held, where the donation was announced an additional $300,000 was raised in donations and will be used to cover daily costs for the operations.

"Five million dollars is more than we've ever received from a single donor ... when Bob says they want to make a difference, he really means it," concluded Poore.
