October 29, 2008 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Domain registrar and web hosting provider Netfirms, Inc. (http://www.netfirms.com) is offering a new version of its proprietary control panel - XLR8. According to the company, the new panel is easier and faster to use and enables small businesses to enjoy all the benefits of clustered hosting and Web 2.0 cloud computing. A number of enhancements have been included based on customer feedback, and a preview of the panel is available at the companys corporate website.
XLR8 usability has been improved through the addition of a domain transfer status bar which indicates how quickly transfers are taking place. In addition, a new-look menu bar improves navigation and the transfer of domains to Netfirms, simplifying the management of a large number of domains. In addition, users can seamlessly install a range of ecommerce, blogging and Content Management Systems offered by Netfirms.
"We encourage user feedback, with the promise that we will try to find ways to incorporate their suggestions in any upgrades," explained Thomas Savundra, President of Netfirms. "Most of the changes we've made are based on feedback we've received in recent months. It is undoubtedly the most user-friendly control panel we've yet released. You could say that Netfirms XLR8 wouldn't exist if it weren't for our customers."
"With the Netfirms grid hosting platform, our customers can free themselves from in-house servers, expensive software installations and other localized devices," added Mr. Savundra. "The Netfirms platform is built on clustered hosting and distributed processing, making it effortless - in fact, automatic - to handle sudden spikes in traffic. You don't want to be featured on CNN, for example, but be unable to handle the flood of traffic to your site. With XLR8 and our platform, the load is spread over many distributed processors, evening out the load and allowing even small businesses to enjoy the full power and convenience of Web 2.0."
Established in 1998, Netfirms, Inc. offers a range of web hosting solutions including Web 2.0 technology. The company hosts over 1,000,000 websites and has offices in the U.S. and Canada.
