Email Security Company SpamExperts Releases New Open Source Antispam Email Filtering Framework
Email security company SpamExperts has released a new Open Source (OS) antispam email filtering framework. With headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, SpamExperts, offers a wide range of email security solutions and predominantly caters to shared web hosts and organizations like ISPs and telecommunication companies. Its inbound and outbound email filtering solutions run within SpamExperts' ‘Hosted Cloud’ or its customers' virtual hardware-based clouds. Known as ‘OrangeAssassin’, the new framework was released at the recent WHD.global 2017 event at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany.

OrangeAssassin is a SpamAssassin drop-in replacement. It was developed as a response to SpamExperts’ customers “struggling with the resource consumption of in-house managed, legacy SpamAssassin deployments” on servers that cannot accommodate its email security solutions. The solution was created during a SpamExperts hackathon. The company’s team created a “robust, modern, Python-based framework using the exact same filtering rules as SpamAssassin”.

“We have advanced the project and today we are releasing the open source code back to the community,” explained SpamExperts’ CTO Dreas van Donselaar. “This does not represent, however, in any way a reflection on our proprietary SpamExperts solutions that use completely different technologies and filtering concepts.” He added, “We are excited that a hackathon could produce such interesting projects benefiting the community”.
