Entrepreneur Dean Drako Buys Cloud Access Control Company Brivo for $50 Million
Entrepreneur Dean Drako has bought cloud access control company Brivo, Inc. for $50 million. Mr. Drako, who is also the president and CEO of cloud video surveillance solution company Eagle Eye Networks, has become Brivo’s chairman. Steve Van Till, the company’s existing president and CEO, maintains his position post acquisition.

Establish in 1999, Brivo, which has headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, caters to a customer base of 6 million users with a range of cloud-based physical access control solutions. The company’s flagship Brivo OnAir combines access and video management in a single cloud platform and offers “unmatched scalability and centralized security management” for companies of all sizes.

With the acquisition Mr. Drako’s intent is to leverage Brivo’s technology to benefit his cloud video surveillance company, Eagle Eye Networks. Brivo will sell an integrated solution that includes the Brivo OnAir cloud-based access control solution with Eagle Eye Networks’ cloud security camera system.

“My goal was to acquire the physical security industry’s best access control system,” explained Mr. Drako. “Brivo’s true cloud architecture and open API approach put it a generation ahead of other access control systems. Cloud solutions provide exceptional benefits and Brivo is clearly the market and technology leader. Brivo is also committed to strong, long-standing relationships with its channel partners, which I believe is the best strategy for delivering extremely high customer satisfaction.”
