Macquarie Telecom today announced it has signed a four-year $1 million deal with financial services provider, Equity Trustees Limited, to deliver managed hosting, voice and data services.
Under the deal Macquarie Telecom will provide the high availability, fully-managed server hosting solution required to support Equity Trustees’ websites and online services. These services include access to the company’s secure customer applications such as personal and business portfolios, superannuation and managed funds accessed by Equity Trustees’ diverse range of clients on a daily basis.
The deal also extends to the provision of a data network between the company’s offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Established in 1888, Equity Trustees has a proven history as a provider of traditional trustee services, as well as portfolio management, managed funds, superannuation, and philanthropy. To maintain its reputation and prepare for expected increases in uptake of personal super and managed-funds as the economy improves, Equity Trustees required a secure application hosting environment that provided scalability and flexibility without compromising on the security of its corporate and customer information.
Macquarie Telecom was chosen to deliver these services following a competitive tender of managed hosting providers.

Under the deal, Equity Trustees has access to Macquarie Telecom’s highly skilled pool of IT engineers to support its in-house teams in Melbourne and Sydney. By moving its voice and data services to Macquarie Telecom as well, the company benefits from a single service provider agreement and SLA across all services within the business which ensure increased accountability and reliability through the service chain and deliver cost savings through consolidation.

Spread across multiple virtual hosts, Equity Trustees’ mission-critical applications and websites are housed in Macquarie Hosting’s ISO and DSD Gateway certified data centre, the Intellicentre. The network infrastructure with redundant firewalls, load balancing, switches and internet ports provide low latency and secure IP Virtual Private Network links between Equity Trustees’ offices across Australia.
